Homeowners - Create energy efficient homes today

Homeowners have a lot of concerns, especially when it comes to paying their electricity payments. Prices are always rising and many are talking about a threatening energy crisis. Our two main forms of energy, coal energy and chemical energy are also major pollutants, not to mention they are both non renewable resources. Energy conservation is a must, but many homeowners are only interested in finding affordable ways to warm their homes.

Electricity is very important in our lives and will be in the future. It plays a very important role in our modern lives and we can not live longer without it. Without electricity we are not sure, we can not produce the products we need and can not use all the devices we love so much ..

Most people know that the price of electricity is too high for the amount they consume. Complaint, however, will not be the answer that will lower the amount you have to pay. There are other options to lower your monthly bill for electricity. One alternative is to utilize alternative energy. Lets review the most widely used types of this new energy source.

Even if people think alternative energy is new, its really not. We have used this energy source long before we even knew electricity. Just think of washing your washed clothes out in the sun. In fact, many of us still use this method of drying clothes and there is nothing wrong with this. Wiping your clothes in this way will save a lot of electricity!

Here we will list other types of alternative energy sources

  • The first is wind power. Today, wind turbines are used to drive small generators. Using windmills is not a new concept. Windmills were widely used in the last century. They were used primarily for mills. Making flour from grain was hard work and using wind power was an economic way to complete this task. Another use of the windmill was to pump out water from large beaches or lakes to land. A country that used this technique often was the Netherlands. Acres of land were obtained in this way and today homeowners still benefit from this country.

Today, the windmill has a renewed function that drives small generators for homeowners. These generators produce electricity to be used when driving small household appliances. These windmills are usually used outside the urban area. It would be difficult for a homeowner in the city to use this technique because they are a few meters in diameter and placed quite high.

  • The second form is solar energy. This energy source can be used in several ways. Most homeowners use it to produce electricity. Solar energy can be used to operate small appliances. Other homeowners used it to heat their homes. This can happen either passively or actively.

The passive shape works like placing your car in the sun. The temperature in the car increases rapidly, making the inside of the car very hot very fast. For home, it can be done by using glasses and posing your home to the sun. Your home can be heated very quickly. By using certain types of stone walls in your home, this heat can be kept inside the house.

The active method uses solar energy to produce hot water for central heating. The hot water can also be used to run hot water, washing machine and dishwasher. The efficiency through which we can now convert solar energy to electricity and hot water is of such an extent that it is very possible to operate a whole house and use for central heating!

Solar energy is much easier to use in the city and so many people in cities can reduce their energy by using this energy source. The roofs solar panels required can be placed on the roof out of sight. Some believe that solar panels may be an ugly sight, but its an individuals taste.

  • The third is hydropower. By using the power of running water, small turbines can run generators. These generators can, in turn, store electricity that can be used to drive household appliances. This technique was also used earlier when water wheels were used to grind grain to flour, just like windmills. But like the windmills, this form of alternative energy is not possible for use in an urban area.
  • The fourth technique is biogas. Biogas is produced naturally through the decomposition of different biological materials. This can be from animals and from humans. Farmers can successfully use this method to produce biogas. The biogas can be used for heating a home or can even be used to cook. This form of alternative energy is not widely used in the urban area.

There are several ways to utilize alternative energy than mentioned here. The forms mentioned here are very common today and developed. In the early days of solar energy, efficiency was poor, but today it has improved dramatically. If you live in the urban area, your possibilities are limited to solar energy.
